He Did What Was Right In The Sight Of The Lord

In one way or another each of us have heard, seen and experienced the power and glory of God, we know of wonders! This is what I call testimony. But even though we have seen and heard much more than this; we tend to forget and choose things that eventually make us to be on the wrong path and turned every part of our lives in idolatry. Yes, we do things that surround us in this world forgetting what really matters and when we have gone too far and we are without God and without hope we think it’s hard to go back, even more than that we think it is impossible.

I have personally heard many times this: it is difficult, it is impossible, I can’t. Not only I’ve heard but I’ve said those words. The truth is that without God everything is more difficult and impossible and even more if we don’t return to God’s way.

The story of King Hezekiah is a story that I can relate and I can imagine you too. It’s great teaching of this king, He did what was right in the sight of the Lord, he was always thinking in putting God first in his life. He was a man who came to God in time of need with the confidence of being heard. The word of God says: “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” And like any other person that God used in his story, Hezekiah prayed to God as the leader he was. “Lord, the God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. Give ear, Lord, and hear; open your eyes, Lord, and see; listen to the words Sennacherib has sent to ridicule the living God. It is true, Lord, that the Assyrian kings have laid waste these nations and their lands. They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands. Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, Lord, are God.”

Hezekiah as a leader identified the problem, the sin, and his actions were accurate. “He removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it. (It was called Nehushtan. Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel.”

Each of us is leader because God has chosen us, leaders in the family, at work, in our community, in every place. There is hope, victory and salvation in God when we obey and do what is right before God. But we need to identify and remove everything in our lives that prevent us to obey God and live a righteous life before your eyes.
